  • International Students in the U.S. Face Uncertainty and Anxiety Ahead of Trump’s Inauguration Amid Deportation Concerns

International students in the U.S. are facing growing concerns about their future under President-elect Donald Trump’s administration, particularly regarding his plans for mass deportations. Universities across the country have issued travel advisories, urging international students and staff to return to campus before Trump’s inauguration in January, fearing potential immigration policy shifts.

Trump’s promise to enact the largest deportation operation in history and his past executive orders, such as the 2017 travel ban, have heightened anxiety among students, especially those with visas and those protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. As students grapple with uncertainty over their academic and immigration futures, institutions like the University of Massachusetts and Yale have offered support, but the situation remains tense.
