The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that it has received sufficient petitions to reach the congressionally mandated limits for H-1B visas for fiscal year (FY) 2025. This includes:
- 65,000 Regular Cap Visas
- 20,000 Advanced Degree Exemption (Master’s Cap) Visas
Next Steps for Registrants:
USCIS will notify registrants of their status through their online accounts over the coming days. For those whose registrations are not selected. When we finish sending these non-selection notifications, the status for properly submitted registrations that we did not select for the FY 2025 H-1B numerical allocations will show:
Not Selected: Not selected — not eligible to file an H-1B cap petition
Cap-Exempt Petitions:
USCIS will continue to accept and process H-1B petitions that are exempt from the cap, including:
- Petitions for current H-1B workers who were previously counted against the cap and retain their cap number.
- Petitions to:
- Extend the stay of a current H-1B worker in the U.S.
- Amend the terms of employment for current H-1B workers.
- Transfer H-1B employment to a new employer.
- Add concurrent employment for current H-1B workers.
